“Aspect Design Landscape is awesome, and thanks to Heather my favorite space in our home is now our backyard! We came to Aspect because we wanted advice on how we might develop a "weekend getaway" feel without a big budget and with some funky challenges with our existing hardscape.
Heather was great about listening to our undeveloped ideas and offering solutions that worked for both my husband's and my (sometimes conflicting) aesthetics. She helped us come up with a long term plan for our yard that we can work on in stages as our time and budget permits and even though the yard is only about two thirds of the way done, we've relished in our beautiful outdoor space the entire summer without feeling too fretful about the part that we haven't gotten to yet.
Heather suggested lots of drought tolerant, native plants that haven't required much maintenance. “Heather (Founder/Owner) was the key in getting our landscape done. We live on a ¼ acre in Berkeley above the famous Claremont Hotel where there was a massive fire back in 1991 (dubbed the "Oakland Firestorm" area 10/20/91). We meet up with Heather, provided her with our thoughts, she asked questions, we walked the premises and less than a week later...volia..."the plan" was in our hand. Not just one, but three choices. She walked us through each and gave her professional opinion, the work needed, possible expenses, where we can save, where we can focus...just the works. We felt very comfortable with her ideas and she knew exactly what we wanted...proven by her drawings. Next up was to get a contractor and she hooked us up with that. They came, did our patio and OH....the fireplace... the fireplace is a masterpiece thanks all to Heather for her outstanding detail drawings with measurements for Ed Fleece's team to build the fireplace. After a few weeks gone by, we hired a landscaping company to do the irrigation and plantings. During this phase, Heather was onsite to help with plant placements. A few months have gone by and we are enjoying the fruits of her labor....We're SUPER HAPPY with Heather's work and her caring nature to want to help make your project perfect
We opted for drought tolerant plants with Mediterranean flare. Lots of lavender, native grasses, kangaroo paws, lamb’s ears, olive trees, and other deer resistant plants. We still need to add a couple of water features which Heather had included in her drawings.....that will be our next project :-) Overall, she is wonderful to work with, easy going, detail oriented, very articulate, a perfectionist and knowledgeable about our environment, soil conditions, sun, lighting, types of plants, etc. She's very well versed and has great connections to hook you up with. I highly recommend Aspect Design Landscape (Heather) because I have seen her work and the result speaks for itself....just amazing!
